The starting point of the exhibition THE WAY is the sculpture ‘Moon Face’ by Raoul Dohmen [1944-2005]. It is a stone boulder with a striking head carved into it. It was made in Ireland in 1975 and was the inspiration for Renate Jacobs’ solo exhibition at BRADWOLFF PROJECTS Amsterdam.
Renate Jacobs [1947, Amsterdam] extraordinary practice is inextricably linked to her life story and the objects and artworks she encounters through friendship and travel. The searching and philosophical nature of THE WAY can give us insight into who we are, how we relate to others and where life can bring us. The exhibition includes sculpture installations, drawings and found-object assemblage. It offers us an overview of her work where we find ourselves entering into the artist’s thought patterns, to see through her eyes and her reality. In her search she tries to find the ideal way to connect life and art together.
BRADWOLFF PROJECTS adopts this holistic approach of the artist’s emphasis on research. It formed a significant reason as to why the experimental platform chose this project. It is an inspiring journey, where life and art come together and bring both Jacobs and the platform to new insights and exchange.
